9 Slowest Cities Of The World

Today life is really fast, and around the globe there are lot of cities which are growing really fast. But there are few peaceful cities which grow really slow in terms of environmental policy, infrastructure, quality of the urban public, encouragement of local products and local production, hospitality and slow city awareness among residents.

Lets us tell you guys which are those cities.

Sonoma Valley, CA, USA
Nestled between the Mayacamas Mountains and Sonoma Mountains in northern California, Sonoma Valley is the first city in the USA to be accredited with Cittaslow – City Slow – status by the Italian Slow Food Movement. Its commitments and philosophies include restrained population growth and sustainable living

Überlingen, Germany
The shores of Lake Constance, Germany give home to the small city of Überlingen. The farmers in this town were the first in the country to ban genetically modified seeds. Respect for nature is another of the tenets of the Cittaslow movement.

Falköping, Sweden
With over 40,000 cows, but only 30,000 inhabitants Falköping, a city in the southwest of Sweden adheres to the principles of Cittaslow.

Lidzbark Warmi?ski, Poland
Poland isn’t just home to the slow city of Lidzbark Warmi?ski, but also Reszel, Biskupiec, and Bisztynek. Decisions to adopt this philosophy were reached by the councils of the four cities together, to create a Polish network.

Katoomba, Australia
Katoomba or the Blue Mountains, which are a World Heritage Site, gained its Cittaslow designation in 2007. As part of an ongoing effort toward sustainability, all residents of Katoomba will be sent equipment and instructions on how to grow a kitchen garden. Green, innovative and tasty!

Ludlow, England
Ludlow was Britain’s first slow city, an accolade awarded because of its food festival – a celebration of fine artisan made goodies – and abundance of local producers. Though many towns and cities in Britain can claim similarly with the popularity and ubiquity of high quality food stores across the land, Ludlow has managed to avoid the plague of common high-street stores that penetrates so many places.

Seferihisar, Turkey
Seferihisar is currently working towards becoming Turkey’s first slow city. One of the projects that it plans to undertake is to help democratize technology by providing free city-wide wifi to all residents.

Rubielos de Mora, Spain
The principles behind the ambitions of leaders in Rubielos de Mora is to encourage all citizens of the city to feel ownership of their surroundings and want to make their town more beautiful. The idea also includes preserving local customs and foods.

Positano, Italy
As Italy is the home of the Cittaslow movement, it is unsurprisingly to learn that Positano is just one of 46 places certified as such. Located on the stunning Amalfi Coast, Positano was the third Italian locale to be branded with the status.
