Poems For Valentin’s Day

Poems For Valentin’s Day
(You say) It is not love, it is madness
My madness may be the cause of your fame
Sever not my relationship with you
If nothing then be my enemy
What is the meaning of notoriety in
meeting me
If not in public court meet me alone
I am not my own enemy
So what if the stranger is in love with
you
Whatever you are, it is due to your own
being
If this not known then it is ignorance
Life though fleets like a lightening
flash
Yet it is abundant Time to be in love
I do not want debate on the sustenance
of love
Be it not love but another dilemma
Give something O biased One
At least the sanction to cry and plea
I will perpetuate the rituals
Even if cruelty be your habit
Teasing and cajoling the beloved cannot
leave ‘Asad’
Even if there is no union and only tphe
desire remains
YOU ARE A PUZZLE
Sometimes I looked for you here, and sometimes there
To have your sight I’ve been ruined and I’ve everywhere
The dear ones vanished, but No one got a lead to you
You are not, yet you are at every place,
You are a puzzle
With what splendor you can be seen in every speck
But the mind is puzzled what you look like and what you are
You are a puzzle
I looked for you in the houses of worship, but couldn’t find you
Yet I found you residing in my heart,
Of sorrow my heart does always complain
But there’s nothing I can do about his pain
LOVE
Oh, how have I begged her to visit my slum
Maybe one day she’ll relent and come
-
And though love for her is only a game
I wish at me she’ll also take aim
-
In such a way caries her letters my foe
That if asked to show them, he cannot say no
-
And so delicate and dainty is my beautiful girl
That I’m afraid to touch even lightly her curl
-
To hide her face when she uses a veil
I cannot remove it; I always fail
-
I’d love her to come but dare not ask
Because I’m afraid she’ll take me to task
-
This love for me is a crucifix
I don’t know what to do, I’m in a fix
-
For love is a fire, O GHALIB, no doubt
You can’t start it, you can’t put it out.
