Celebrities Painted As Russian Generals

In the early 1800?s, an English portraitist by the name of George Dawe (Feb 6, 1781 – Oct. 15, 1829) painted 329 portraits of Russian generals active during Napoleon’s French invasion of Russia (1812). Contemporary artist Steve Payne has updated these famous portraits to re-imagine them using actors, celebrities and leaders of today.

The digital work is impressive, as Payne’s work achieves the same look and feel as the classic portraits with a face you can recognize. Below is a small collection Steve’s awesome work.
