World War 2

The event was a historic reenactment of the German Occupation, wich began on April 9, 1940 and end with the liberation of Denmark on May 4, 1945, organized by Frederikshavn municipality in cooperation with Northern Jutland’s Coastal Museum and a string of Danish and foreign societies.

Slavery

A picture taken 27 May 1998 actors taking part in the reenactment of slaves being sold to French colons upon their arrival on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe during a ceremony in honor of victims of slavery. President Jacques Chirac had declared May 10 as an annual day of commemoration in France for the victims of slavery, and proposed legal action against companies that use forced labour in developing countries. The date of May 10 was chosen because it was the day in 2001 that the French legislature approved a law recognising slavery as a crime against humanity.
