World Egg Throwing Championships
For all egg lovers, the World Egg Throwing Championships is an ideal destination. Here, participants can indulge in different variants of egg games like Russian egg roulette, throw and catch the egg, static relay, target throwing (where the contestants pelt a human target with, what else but eggs) and egg trebuchet. So far, the event has successfully managed to pull in over three hundred participants and thousands of spectators. The Russian roulette is a crowd favourite, where the people have to determine if the egg in front of them is hardboiled or raw. Compared to other sports where there is a certainty of bruises and bangs, what’s a little egg on your face?
Mobile Phone Throwing World Championship
Now this is one championship that is sure to be hated by many because the object that is thrown is something that has become an integral part of our daily lives to the point of being precious. Yes, we are talking about the Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships which began in Finland to raise awareness of cellular phone recycling. This bizarre championship began in the year 2000 when some Fins had a brainwave of an event where countries around the world can compete in who can throw their cell phones the furthest. Today, the Mobile Phone Throwing Championship has become so famous that there are four categories: original, freestyle, team original and junior (meant for children under 12 years) The UK, Finland, Spain and the US are all countries that have started holding these cell phone throwing events on the national level.
World Worm Charming Championship
In England, Sout Cheshire to be exact, there is an event known as the World Worm Charming Championship, where people with a knack of communicating with mother earth comprisethe majority of the participants. Participants are each granted a nine foot by nine foor square of wet sloshy field and they must try to bring worms to the surface, but without digging. Although the entire contest lasts for approximately thirty minutes, there is always a huge crowd assembled to enjoy the whacky ways by which the contestants try to induce these slimycreatures to come up. Some methods include banging on drums, whistling and even dancing.
Pea Shooting Championships
At first look, this contest might look relatively simple after all it involves the humble pea. However, it involves a combination of lungs, concentration and aim before one can clinch the title of the World’s best pea shooter. A town called Witcham in Cambridgeshire hosts international peashooters in an attempt to hit a calibrated target which is made of putty at a distance of twelve yards, with recent additions being gyroscopic stabilizers and laser sights. Although, shooters can now include a great deal of technology on this contest, but the basic foundations of concentration, attitude and pea selection are what matters in the end.
World Toe Wrestling Championship
Toe wrestling was founded in Wetton in the mid 70?s and has gained in popularity over the years. Participants literally toe each other until a clear winner emerges who clinches the title of the Champion of World Toe Wrestling.
