False Start
This particular piece was bought by Kenneth Griffin for a staggering $80 million. Painted by Jasper Johns, it was originally sold anonymously, the name of the buyer being made public after some time the painting spent at Matthew Marks Gallery. The artist belongs to a contemporary current, the painting being finished in 1959, and is currently considered a major influence on the nascent pop art movement. The interesting feature of this piece is the fact that colors are used as words, being painted in different colors than what they actually mean, this attitude being called by some to be “utilitarian”. So, the word “red” is painted in orange, white in red, orange in white and so on.

Portrait of Dr. Gachet
The art-work was painted by Vincent Van Gogh, one of the most renowned of all times. It was purchased by a Japanese businessman, Ryoei Saito, for the sum of $82.5 million in 1990. He placed the piece in a climate-controlled vault after purchase. Three years after buying it, the Saito was charged with bribery and received a three-year sentence. By that time, he was almost bankrupt. In an excess of selfishness, he said that the painted was to be cremated and buried with him, statement that was later infirmed as to be a joke. The businessman died in 1996, the current location of the painting being unknown.

Triptych 1976
The famous Roman Abramovich bought this piece for $86.3 million, on the advice of Daria Zhukova, his girlfriend. Painted by Francis Bacon, the artwork wreaks of macabre. It’s one of the pieces he painted after his lover committed suicide. With influences from Greek mythology, mainly the story of Prometheus, it can also be considered an interpretation of The Orestia, Aeschylus’ trilogy. The painting was displayed in Russia in 2010, in Moscow, at the CCC Gallery.

Adele Bloch-Bauer II
Gustav Klimt finished it in 1912, the work being considered a fine proof of the Symbolist Movement. The girl the painting was named after was the only model that the artist painted more than twice. Sold for $87.9 million to an undisclosed buyer, the painting was commissioned by Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer, Adele’s wealthy husband and then donated to the Austrian State Gallery within the 1920s. It was later seized by the Nazis during the Second World War. The descendants of the Bloch-Bauer family had been returned five of Klimt’s paintings after long lawsuits. They have auctioned them all, and now this painting’s whereabouts are unknown.

Dora Maar Au Chat
It’s finally time for a Picasso. Pablo Picasso is the author of the weird piece and represents one of his favorite muses, being involved with her in a passionate relationship between the 1930s and 40s. Bought buy an unknown customer for $95.2 million, this incredible piece of art was finished in 1941, in the middle of the Nazi occupation of France. Dora Maar used to be a native Parisian, but grew up in Argentina. That’s how she could easily get along with Picasso, both speaking Spanish. As a proof of the reverence for his lover, he took extreme care while realizing it, with immense attention to detail. The artwork went to private display at auction in 2006 after being privately held during the early 21st century.

Garcon A La Pipe
The second Picasso-signed painting in our top 10 was bought by another undisclosed customer for $104.1 million. It owns the record for the most expensive painting ever sold at an auction. Finished when Picasso was only 24 years old, in 1905, during the artist’s “Rose” period, the painting emanates an androgynous quality, contrasting between the pipe and the flowers. Even though many art critics say that the price was way too much for its actual value, it finally got sold, in spite of their opinion.

Adele Bloch-Bauer I
We’re now penetrating the top 3 with another Gustav Klimt piece, sold for a mind-boggling $135 million to Ronald Lauder, cosmetics magnate. The reason for which he bought it was the desire to collect Jewish-owned artworks rescued from the Nazis, displaying them in his Neue Galerie in New York, where it currently resides. The painting consists of gold, oil and silver on canvas and was the most expensive painting ever sold for a short time.

Woman III
The work of Willem de Kooning joined Steven A. Cohen’s collection of artwork at a cost of $137.5 million. It’s the only de Kooning painting owned privately, bought from David Geffen in November 2006. The artist numbered his whole series of “Woman” paintings, 6 in number – a superb example of abstract expressionism, finished in 1953. He was declared the leader of the movement at that time, but passed away in 1997 after a long Alzheimer’s Disease-dominated period.

No. 5, 1948
The winner.. the most expensive painting ever to be sold is Jackson Pollock’s No. 5, 1948, based on his famous “drip” style. Bought by David Martinez for a whopping $140 million, it’s the piece that proves contemporary-style is currently the most wanted within the high-class society. Although the owner is unconfirmed, just as the sum, they haven’t been disproven by anyone or anything. It was brokered by Tobias Meyer, Sotheby’s auctioneer, as a private sale. The seller was David Geffen, renowned for his private collection of artworks.

At Bjoeks Climb Center, there is an array of indoor climbing walls, including one designed for first-timers and another that’s at a 45 degree angle. There’s also a large indoor-outdoor bordering area with 117 boulders to scamper over.

The Bjoeks Climb Center was started in 1996 by Gert van deer Veen and his friend and climbing partner, Alco Pols.

Badass sexy chick? Check. Deadly assassin? Check. Eye patch? Check. Elle Driver of Kill Bill Vol.1 & 2 is a great villan to get things started. Elle was as malevolent as she was witty with a little enticement thrown in to boot. Even though she despised our protagonist Beatrix, she had enough honor to spare assassinating her in Vol.1 in order to have a brutal showdown in Vol.2. The battle was so impressive that it received the MTV movie award for Best Fight (2005). Want more? Elle may be making a sinister comeback in the recently announced Kill Bill Vol. 3.

Chiaki Kuriyama as Gogo
In a flick jam packed with deadly assassin femme fatales, Lucy Lui’s O-Ren Ishii may be the standard pick from Kill Bill Vol.1 — but we’re going to side with the nefarious 17-year-old schoolgirl assassin Gogo. What more could you want in a villan? She looks innocent at first glance in her Japanese school girl garb yet she nimbly wields the deadly meteor hammer with intent to bash our beloved Beatrix’s skull in while she smiles with satisfaction. Gogo makes her introduction by offering herself to a horny drunken man in a bar and then disemboweling him with a short sword, asking “Do you still wish to penetrate me?… Or is it I who has penetrated you?”. Touche.

Sienna Miller as Baroness
The dark, sexy femme fatale of G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra made her live action debut in 2009. Wrapped in a sexy leather get up, Baroness terrorized the Joes with two fisted gunplay and killer looks. Too bad the movie kind of sucked.

Parker Posey as Danica Talos
Something about Parker Posey’s Danica Talos was just too damn sexy. Her role in Blade: Trinity wasn’t stellar — nor was the movie in itself. Still, watching her prance around in tight outfits bossing her vampire brethren around to combat Blade caught our attention several times.

Kristanna Loken as the T-X
Kristianna Loken was a great pick to cast as the first female terminator. Her starring role in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines was damn entertaining in my opinion. The T-X was not a woman of many words and we can appreciate her for that. Her killer looks and intent to annihalate all of man-kind spoke volumes in itself.

Kelly Hu as Lady Deathstrike
Kelly Hu is already one of the sexiest women in Hollywood. Throw in a set of indestructible claws and some assassin skills and you have Lady Deathstrike from X2. Placed in the sequel to 2000′s X-Men as Wolverine’s main foe, Lady Deathstrike was a welcomed piece of eye candy in the X-Men franchise. Too bad her run didn’t last long enough to make it to X-Men: The Last Stand.

Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman
Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman ushered in a new era of the sexy femme-fatale. Her depiction of Catwoman in 1992′s Batman Returns is still a classic tutorial in how to turn on your male audience. Her seductive innuendos, cat-like mannerisms and slutty leather costume exudes sex appeal even 20 years later. Can Anne Hathaway’s depiction of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises captivate us like Ms. Pfeiffer did oh so well? We’ll be willing participants in finding out.

Salma Hayek as Satánico Pandemonium
Salma Hayek’s Satanico Pandemonium in From Dusk Till Dawn was created just for the guys. As Santanico performs an enticing dance in the bar scene, things get a little hotter and she shows her true side by morphing into a nasty version of the undead. From the sexy dance moves down to the violent murder of her spectators — this is scary stuff. On second thought, if we were going to have our blood drained by a creature of the night, why not have a gorgeous view while we’re at it. Are you taking notes Twilight?

Demi Moore as Madison Lee
Demi Moore as Madison Lee in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle was an amazing sight to see. Madison Lee was slighted by Charlie and decided to take it out on the entire world apparently — like most women. However, this lady chooses to express herself trough a pair of solid gold pistols as her toned body is fitted with lingerie and draped in a fur coat. We could sit through a couple more of those horrible Angel flicks just to see that again.

Angelina Jolie as Fox
Fox from 2008′s Wanted reeled many a man into the movie theaters from the trailers alone, showing Angelina Jolie’s naked tattooed backside. A deadly, super human assassin who doesn’t mind getting butt naked at the drop of a hat? Sign me up. Not only that, but the movie was surprisingly good. Let’s not forget, Fox was almost surgical with that shot gun. Sexy.

Megan Fox as Jennifer Check
You just knew this pick would be pretty high ranking, huh? Megan Fox already owns the rights to the sexy bad girl look but she sure cashed in on her hotness as Jennifer Check in 2009′s Jennifer’s Body. The demonic man-eater lured teenage boys to their violent deaths yet found time to make out with another chick somewhere in between the process. Well done.

Kate Nauta as Lola
The Transporter was already a staple amongst the community of bad-ass man movies. The second installation saw fit to include a gun-toting, lingerie-sporting, snarl-bearing female assassin by the name of Lola to up the ante. One look at Lola made the Transporter 2 one of our instant favorites. Was it the way she shot up a hospital full of patients with two huge pistols while in lingerie and red 4-inch heels? Maybe. Just maybe. There are plenty of examples we could fire off but this was the perfect mix of a female villan with the split personality of being vindictive and seductive.
