Plot Sypnosis

After his father is murdered and village destroyed, Conan ventures into an unforgiving world where he survives as a thief, pirate, and warrior. On his path of wanton adventure and women, Conan chances upon the warlord responsible his tribe’s destruction. As he tracks Khalar Zym, Conan battles monsters, Zym’s henchmen, and Marique, a powerful witch.

Rachel Nichols as Tamara: a “beautiful [and] studious… novitiate of a Greek influenced monastery … trained to be the Queen’s servant, bodyguard and best friend” Conan’s love interest.
Stephen Lang as Khalar Zym: an empire-building Middle Eastern warlord. Primary villain. The character was originally going to be called Khalar Singh[3]
Rose McGowan as Marique an evil half human/half witch.
Ron Perlman as Corin: A blacksmith, leader of the Cimmerians, and Conan’s father.
Bob Sapp as Ukafa: Khalar Zym’s second in command and “leader of Kushite Tribemen from the savannahs of Kush.” He is “jealous that Singh’s son, Fariq, will one day be warlord. He obeys his leader but plots the overthrow of his son.”
Saïd Taghmaoui
Islene: Conan’s mother.
Artus: a Zamoran pirate and friend of Conan.
Ilira: fun-loving Queen of Acheron captured by Khalar Zym.
Remo: a “mysterious warrior of dark magic.”
Fassir: an “elder monk and leader of the monastery… charged with the care and education of the queen, Ilira.”
Lucius: leader of Khalar Zym’s “Legion of Aquilonian Mercenaries” he is disfigured in an early fight with Conan.
Cheren: a blind archer who leads a similar band of blind archers in Khalar Zym’s mercenary army.
Some characters have no known cast yet but were revealed in released casting information.

Splice
An indie sci-fi flick which originally did the festivals last year, centers around two scientists (played by Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley), who recreate a creature in a lab, which eventually manages to escape. Release date: June 4.

Despicable Me
An animated comedy about the evil mastermind Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), who draws plans to steal the moon. However, when he meets three orphan girls, things change. Release date: July 9.

The Last Airbender
M. Night Shyamalan, who’s last few films haven’t been much to cheer for, brings the movie adaptation of The Last Airbender, an action-adventure fantasy with some impressive visual effects. This is also Shyamalan’s first film which he didn’t create himself, but rather, which he adapted from another source (anime). Release date: July 2.

Predators
Another take on the Predator franchise, this time with a few decent actors in the form of Adrien Brody and Lawrence Fishbourne, who are part of a group of soldiers hunted by a pack of Predators. Release date: July 9.

Resident Evil: Afterlife
Paul W.S. Anderson returns to the Resident Evil franchise with Mila Jovovich, for another round of monster slaying, this time in 3D. Release date: September 10.

Tron Legacy
The remake/sequel of the classic sci-fi movie TRON will be coming later this year, where a virtual world worker sets off to eliminate the Master Control Program, played by none other than Jeff Bridges. Release date: December 17.

Iron Man 2
There’s not much to say about this: the sequel to one of the biggest hits of 2008, Iron Man. Expect the sequel to up the ante pretty much across the board. Release date: May 7.

Prince of Persia: Sands Of Time
Based on the popular video game of the same name, Prince of Persia: Sands Of Time starts Jake Gylenhaal as the prince who teams up with a princess in order to fight an evil ruler, played by none other than Ben Kingsley. Release date: May 28.

Inception
Christopher Nolan takes a break from Batman to bring this original sci-fi film, which, as Nolan describes it, “tells the story of Cobb, an agent who has a team of people who have access to a technology that allows them to enter people’s minds through their dreams”.
